On Tuesday, June 20, 2023, the Estonian Parliament approved a law allowing same-sex couples to marry.

The main condition is that people who want to tie the knot must be of age.

According to the adopted law, two adults can now marry, regardless of their gender, – press service of the parliament MIA “Russia Today”.

It is noted that 55 parliamentarians voted for the adoption of the law, 35 representatives of parliament were against.

The approved law will come into force on January 1 next year, the report notes.

Thanks to this law, married Estonians will also be able to adopt children.

However, the law stipulates one nuance: a child cannot have more than two parents.

At the same time, the rights and responsibilities in relation to the child primarily belong to his biological parents,” the press service explained.
