German Prime Minister Olaf Scholz said that the North Atlantic Alliance will not become part of the conflict in Ukraine.

The German Chancellor made this statement on June 26, speaking in the Bundestag on the agenda of the upcoming summits of the European Union and NATO.

Scholz quotes his words.

What Scholz said about NATO and the conflict in Ukraine

The head of the German government said that at the alliance summit they would discuss strengthening its role in coordinating support for Ukraine and training the Ukrainian military.

Because of what we do, NATO will not be part of the conflict, we will not cross that line and we will not cross it, – said Scholz, noting that there is unanimity in NATO on this issue.

The NATO summit will take place July 9-11 in Washington. Representatives of the US administration have repeatedly stated that Ukraine will not be invited to the alliance at the event.

The final statement from last year’s Vilnius summit stated that Ukraine’s future was in NATO, but noted that an invitation would be extended when conditions were met and the allies reached an agreement.

Earlier it was reported that the Bundestag would make work a condition for Ukrainians to stay in Germany.
