65 scientists from around the world were involved in the research. They had to find out who was more attentive to strangers.
The main attention was focused on the moment of refusal to provide assistance in the absence of a threat and other reasons.
The results of the study on social responsibility were published by the journal PNAS.
Nations were assessed on their levels of empathy, level of kindness, and willingness to cooperate without investing time or money.
The research was initiated by employees of the Netherlands’ Leiden University.
The results were made after analyzing test results received from 8354 experiment participants from 34 countries.
As a result, it turned out that the first place on the list belongs to the residents of Japan.
They are followed by Austria, Mexico, Israel, the Czech Republic, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Singapore, Spain, Germany and only then Russia (11th place).
But the US population was in 23rd place out of 34 countries participating in the study.
Behind the United States were the Republic of Korea, China, Türkiye and other countries.
