The second Brazilian Air Force (FAB) flight to repatriate Brazilians from Lebanon took off this Monday (7), at 12:30 pm, from Beirut. There are 227 passengers on board – 49 of them children, seven on their laps.

The aircraft heads to Lisbon, Portugal, where it will make a technical stopover. Then, it goes to the São Paulo Air Base, in Guarulhos. Three pets are also on the flight.

With the second group, the Brazilian government has already removed 456 people and 6 pets from Lebanon. The first flight arrived on Sunday (6) and the repatriates were received by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT).

This time, the aircraft took to Lebanon a donation of medical and hospital supplies requested by local authorities. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, other emergency goods must be transported on upcoming flights.

In the operation crew, called “Raízes do Cedro”, there is a multidisciplinary team with three doctors, two nurses and two psychologists to guarantee reception and assistance.

In a statement, Itamaraty informed that it continues to be in contact with Brazilians and their families who wish to leave Lebanon through the Brazilian Embassy in Beirut. The organization of flights depends on the security conditions on the ground.

“The Brazilian government reiterates its warning for everyone to follow the security guidelines of local authorities and, for those who have the resources to do so, to try to leave Lebanese territory by their own means. Beirut airport continues to operate, mainly with regular flights from the Lebanese company Middle Eastern Airlines”, adds the note.
