Series of explosions in Kazakhstan: 9 dead, more than 90 injured

On the evening of August 26, a fire broke out at one of the warehouses of a military unit located in the Zhambyl region in Kazakhstan.

The flames reached the ammunition stored in the premises. As a result, explosions began to sound.

As a result of the incident, 9 people died. Among them are military personnel and emergency services personnel who arrived at the scene of the call.

It is noted that at the moment there is no information about the whereabouts of two more people: they are missing.

As foreign news agencies report, the total number of victims of the explosion exceeded 90 people.

Among those hospitalized are 49 employees of the Kazakhstan Ministry of Emergency Situations. The condition of several of them is assessed as serious.

According to data as of the morning of August 27, the fire at the military warehouses had not yet been extinguished.

Law enforcement officers of Kazakhstan opened a criminal case into the incident. Representatives of the country’s Ministry of Defense are working at the scene of the tragedy.
