The head of the government of Slovakia, Robert Fico, was assassinated and wounded.

The assassination attempt on the Slovak Prime Minister took place after a government retreat in Handlov.
When Fico came out to the public, an unknown person shot him several times. According to eyewitnesses, there were 4-5 shots.
The politician was wounded in the chest and abdomen. The shooter was detained and his identity has been established. According to the JoJ TV channel, the shooter is 71 years old.
Some media write that the life of the Slovak prime minister is not in danger, but Fico’s party reported that he is in a life-threatening condition.
The prime minister was first treated at a local hospital, then taken by helicopter to a higher-level medical facility.
