Slovakia handed over the first batch of MiG-29 fighters to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

This was announced on March 23 by the head of the Slovak Ministry of Defense, Jaroslav Nagy, on Facebook (banned in Russia; owned by Meta, a company recognized as extremist in Russia).

How many planes will Ukraine receive?

As Nagy reported, the first 4 MiG-29 fighters have already left Slovakia and were safely transferred to the Ukrainian army.

The minister expressed gratitude to everyone involved in this process and assured that the remaining fighters will be handed over in the coming weeks.

In total, Slovakia must transfer 13 MiG-29 fighters to Ukraine.

The cost of the aircraft will be reimbursed by the United States and the European Union. According to media reports, the amount of compensation will be approximately $1 billion.
