Spectacular Northern Lights arriving in Italy tonight too?

Follow the live broadcast on the hunt for the Northern Lights organized this evening by the astrophysicist Gianluca Masi, creator of the “Virtual Telescope Project” project

I would like to point out that the NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) predicts a G4 (severe) geomagnetic storm for the night between 10 and 11 October, which could give rise to interesting auroral activity, perhaps also visible from Italian latitudes . The peak is expected between 8pm on October 10th and 8am on October 11th. I underline that this is a forecast, based on the notable solar activity of the last two/three days, which may not correspond to significant auroral activity, or it may occur in a different time window. In any case, the Virtual Telescope Project will share live the view of the sky visible above its station installed at (GR), under the purest sky from light pollution in peninsular Italy. The streaming will begin at 10.30pm today, October 10th and who knows if the Northern Lights will appear again in our country.

Clear skies and good observations

If you have come this far it is because you considered our article worthy of being read to the end. Passione Astronomia has always tried to build, through scientific dissemination, a community of more informed and aware people. It’s also why we decided to write a book dedicated to astronomy. It is written in a clear and simple way, precisely because for us disclosure must be accessible to everyone. You find it .
