Spiegel: Secret documents from the G7 summit were found in Scholz’s trash can

53views

Neighbors of German Prime Minister Olaf Scholz and his wife Britta Ernst in an apartment building in Potsdam (Brandenburg) periodically find important documents in and around a garbage container.

In particular, secret documents from the G7 summit were recently found there.

The German publication reports this.

What documents were found?

According to the publication, a number of discarded documents indirectly relate to the work of the government of the state of Brandenburg, where Scholz’s wife holds the position of Minister of Education.

Der Spiegel believes that it is the chancellor’s wife who throws out the documents.

This includes throwing out documents that are officially classified as confidential.

In particular, a memo was found with brief characteristics of the spouses of the leaders of the G7 countries, prepared for the organization’s summit, which took place in Germany at the end of June.

The memo indicated dates of birth, occupation and some other information. For example, it was written about the wife of the head of the Italian government, Mario Draghi, that she “avoids the public.”

In general, such information is not classified, however, according to Der Spiegel, the document was compiled by the German Foreign Ministry and classified as “secret information, for official use only.”

The publication notes that it is forbidden to throw away such documents without making sure that the text cannot be restored.

It is also noted that the publication does not have a comment from the department of the Federal Chancellor and the government of the state of Brandenburg on this topic.
