Hungary will not block the work of the NATO mission in Ukraine, including decisions taken by the North Atlantic Alliance regarding assistance to Kyiv.

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg stated this following negotiations with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban.

The Hungarian Prime Minister has clearly stated that Hungary will not participate in these efforts (on providing assistance to Ukraine. – Ed.), I accepted this position – Secretary General of MIA Rossiya Segodnya.

Stoltenberg also said that he was very pleased with the fact that it was possible to agree with Orban on the terms of Budapest’s non-participation in supporting Kyiv.

Thus, Hungary will not “participate in such activities” and its finances will not be used “for this,” said the head of the Alliance.

And he added: according to the agreement on Budapest’s non-participation in NATO’s work to assist Ukraine, Hungary will not block decisions taken on this issue by the other members of the Alliance.

And Orban noted that during the dialogue with the chief NATO official, he received the guarantees his country needed.

“I asked the Secretary General to clarify that all NATO military actions outside the territory of the alliance, in accordance with NATO rules and traditions, can only be voluntary,” the politician informed.

According to Orban, his interlocutor confirmed this position.

Earlier, China announced its intention to convene a new conference on Ukraine.
