Sweden and Denmark suspend vaccination of teenagers with Moderna drug

0views

Authorities in Sweden and Denmark have decided to stop vaccinations with Moderna among adolescents under 18 years of age.

The decision was made due to the risk of side effects among the population under 30 years of age. According to official information, the risk of this complication is low.

The decision of the Swedish and Danish authorities was reported by The Local, which refers to the Danish Health Authority.

Denmark will no longer vaccinate teenagers under 18 years of age with the Moderna vaccine.

Swedish authorities have so far suspended vaccinations against COVID-19 developed by an American company among the population under the age of 30.

Doctors are reporting an increase in cases of inflammation of the heart muscle or pericardium. At the same time, representatives of the Swedish Public Health Agency acknowledge that the risk of developing this pathology in young people is extremely small.

However, as a precaution, vaccination with this drug has been suspended.

Let us recall that at the end of summer, foreign impurities were discovered in the Moderna vaccine obtained in Japan.

As it turned out later, it was metal shavings made of stainless steel.

As a result, the country’s authorities also suspended the use of a batch of 1.63 million doses of the drug.
