Sweden has rejected China’s idea of an international investigation into the Nord Stream gas pipeline explosions.

The Kingdom’s Foreign Ministry said it did not see the need for this.

A statement from the Swedish Foreign Ministry provides:

How Sweden rejected China’s idea of investigating the emergency at Sevpotok

At the end of April, China’s Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Geng Shuang, at a meeting of the organization’s Security Council called for an international investigation into the Sevpotok explosions.

The Swedish Foreign Ministry believes that such an investigation is not necessary.

It won’t give anything – stated in the Swedish diplomatic service.

They stressed that the Swedish investigation was conducted in accordance with the principles of impartiality, independence and the rule of law, and recalled that other national investigations were ongoing.

In February, the Swedish prosecutor’s office announced the termination of the investigation into the explosions at Sevpotok.

Stockholm stated that Sweden does not have jurisdiction over the incident and transferred the available information to Germany, which continues to investigate.

On March 27, the UN Security Council did not support the resolution of Russia and China to conduct an international investigation.

Three countries spoke in favor of the resolution, none were against, and 12 countries abstained.

The resolution proposed instructing UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres to create an independent international commission to conduct a transparent, impartial and comprehensive investigation into the sabotage and identify the organizers, sponsors, perpetrators and their accomplices.

The Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the UN, Vasily Nebenzya, said at a meeting of the organization’s Security Council at the end of April that the circumstances of the incident can only be established through the cooperation of the international community.

Earlier it was reported that the Russian military was at a base occupied by the Americans in Niger.
