28views

The Swiss authorities gave the go-ahead for the sale of 25 Leopard 2A4 tanks to Germany, but set a condition.

Bern wishes that Berlin would not send these combat vehicles to Ukraine in the future.

This is stated in a statement by the Federal Council of the Alpine State.

According to the document, the Council approved the sale of 25 Leopards to Germany on Wednesday, November 22. They will be bought by the manufacturing company – Rheinmetall Landsysteme GmbH.

Berlin assured Switzerland that the tanks will remain in Germany, in NATO member countries or in the EU and will be used to complement their weapons, the Federal Council reported to Rossiya Segodnya.

Earlier, in September this year, the small chamber of the Swiss parliament approved the decommissioning of 25 Leopard 2 tanks for their sale to Germany.

Prior to this, the large chamber of parliament, the Swiss National Council, gave its go-ahead on this issue.
