Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjártó said that the country will not survive without Russian oil.

The head of the Hungarian Foreign Ministry made this statement in an interview with RBC.

What Szijjarto said about stopping oil supplies from Russia

The head of Hungarian diplomacy said that if Russian oil supplies are stopped, Hungary “simply will not survive.”

He noted that Hungary does not have the infrastructure to ensure supplies through alternative routes.

According to the minister, Kyiv’s decision to stop the transit of Russian oil through the Druzhba oil pipeline is a serious challenge for the Hungarian economy.

The head of the Hungarian Foreign Ministry stated that since the beginning of the special operation, the economic policy of the European Union has become overly politicized.

For Hungary, energy supply issues, according to Szijjarto, are not related to politics.

This is the country’s responsibility. And this is a matter of physical existence, – he said in an interview.

In mid-July, Hungary and Slovakia announced the cessation of Russian oil supplies through Ukraine via the Druzhba pipeline due to the addition of Lukoil to the Ukrainian blacklist.

On July 22, Hungary and Slovakia appealed to the European Commission due to Kyiv’s actions. Szijjártó subsequently stated that the stoppage of transit was coordinated from Brussels.

The head of the Ukrainian government, Denis Shmygal, said that Kyiv does not intend to resume transit and has full understanding of Brussels on this issue.
