The number of people injured in the Taiwan earthquake has risen to 963.

Earlier it was reported about 821 victims. There are still 9 people killed, a representative of the emergency response headquarters said at a briefing on April 3.

Most of the victims were in Xinbei (248) and Hualien County (176).

143 people are trapped or awaiting assistance in hard-to-reach areas.

An earthquake with a magnitude of up to 7.7 began in Taiwan at 07:58 local time (02:58 Minsk time).

The main shock was followed by 225 aftershocks. The earthquake was the strongest in 25 years.
