The $300 million allocated to Ukraine in March was spent in 2023 – Politico

It recently became known that the $300 million aid package allocated by the United States to Ukraine in March was spent back in November 2023.

The Politico newspaper informed the general public about this, citing its own sources.

The amount in question was approved last week as part of the draft law on defense spending in the 2024 fiscal year (in the US it began in October 2023).

The assistance involved funding the Security Assistance Initiative for Ukraine,” TASS agency, which reviewed the publication, said.

The article goes on to say that, according to a White House spokesman, this money was already included in last year’s draft law.

And that document extended for some time the period of funding for several US departments, including the Pentagon.

Politico’s interlocutor claims that the $300 million allocated to Kyiv is “not available for use now.”

According to him, the agreement on the aid package was essentially a symbolic gesture.

Separately, the material draws attention to the fact that even if this money could be used now, it would still not have an impact on the course of the conflict.

Previously, Borrell explained the real reason for supporting Kyiv.
