The Americans at the NATO summit were seriously angry with Zelensky: what happened

0views

Members of the American delegation at the NATO summit (held in Vilnius) were seriously angry with the President of Ukraine.

The fact is that Vladimir Zelensky published a post on Twitter full of harsh criticism of NATO.

The Ukrainian leader did not like the position of the North Atlantic Alliance about the prematureness of inviting Kyiv to the organization.

Well, high-ranking Americans did not like how Zelensky reacted to this.

Ukrainian question

All this was learned by the authoritative Washington newspaper The Washington Post, which was reported on its pages by the TASS agency.

Let us recall that following the results of the first day of the NATO summit, it was decided not to require Kyiv to implement the action plan for joining the Alliance.

A multi-year program of military assistance to Ukraine was also approved.

Third point: Kyiv was assured that it would receive an invitation to the military-political bloc if all conditions were met, but only after the end of the conflict.

Criticism of Zelensky

Zelensky criticized NATO for its reluctance to make concrete decisions at the summit in Vilnius on the timing of inviting his country to the organization.

According to him, “Ukraine deserves respect,” and called “uncertainty of partners” a weakness.

Members of the US delegation were angry with Zelensky’s tweet, The Washington Post writes about the American reaction to Zelensky’s criticism.

Disappointment

The article says that the statement by the President of Ukraine disappointed Kyiv’s supporters in NATO, who believed that they had achieved victory for Kyiv.

Some NATO diplomats suspected Zelensky of using “a tweet as a negotiating technique.”

Other influential people within the Alliance believe that in this way the Ukrainian leader tried to put pressure on the military-political bloc.
