The billion-plus question. Poland will invest huge amounts of money in the construction of nuclear power plants

The Polish authorities intend to invest 4.6 billion zlotys (about $1.19 billion) in the construction of their own nuclear power plant next year.

The head of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic, Andrzej Domanski, shared these plans with the general public.

Next year we will allocate 4.6 billion zlotys for the construction of a nuclear power plant, – statement by the head of the department, TASS agency.

The official is convinced that Warsaw will be able to “provide solutions related to renewable energy sources.”

According to him, currently in Poland the cost of energy is 40-50% higher than the corresponding prices in Germany, Spain and France.

Therefore, the minister pointed out, the project appears to be a “huge challenge” for domestic industry.

It should be noted that the Polish government approved a decree on the construction of the first nuclear power plant in the country in November 2022.

According to the plans, we are talking about the construction of three reactors on the Baltic Sea coast in the Pomeranian Voivodeship.

The entire project is estimated to cost approximately $20 billion.
