The Black Sea suddenly turned red: should tourists panic?

13views

In Gelendzhik, sea water turned red.

While local residents are wondering whether it is safe to swim in such water, scientists are trying to find out the reasons for this anomaly.

Footage showing red water off the coast of the Gelendzhik village of Praskoveevka was published by one of the Instagram users on his personal page.

At the moment, the version of chemical coloring of water is not being considered and is unlikely.

Most likely, red algae washed ashore, which caused the color of the water.

This phenomenon is periodically observed on the Black Sea coast of Kuban.

There is no threat to the environment or human health.
