192views

Recently it became known about a fire that occurred at the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant.

According to Russian media, the fire occurred after an attack on a facility by drones of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

As the TASS agency press secretary of the nuclear power plant, Evgenia Yashina, burned out, the cooling tower (a device for cooling large amounts of water, sometimes cooling towers are called cooling towers).

According to specialists, there is currently no threat of collapse.

The inside of the cooling tower was completely burned out, but there was no threat of collapse, Yashina said.

And she added: the fire did not affect the operation of the nuclear power plant, since it was shut down and the cooling towers were not involved in cooling.

But from the point of view of the integrity of the plant and the principles of nuclear safety, which IAEA head Rafael Grossi constantly talks about, a fire at the cooling tower is a direct violation of the integrity of the plant, the spokeswoman noted.

She also notified that the time frame for restoring the cooling tower will be known only after an assessment of the damage received.
