Within hours, heavy rains caused flooding in New York.

The disaster that hit the city flooded metro stations, and as a result of flooding, traffic on the city streets was hampered. Passengers who were on the subway during the rain walked waist-deep in water.

According to the New York Times, heavy rains and thunderstorms hit the city on Thursday.

Assessing the situation, experts came to the conclusion that the city was not prepared for the disaster, the culprit of which was tropical storm Elsa.

Due to heavy rains, 12 people had to be evacuated from a flooded highway.

The head of the company operating the subway, Sarah Feinberg, said that the drainage systems “work surprisingly well.”

But Democratic Party representative Eric Adams sharply criticized the authorities for their unpreparedness for such a situation.

Just in case, the city administration asks city residents not to leave their homes in the near future.

Local forecasters admitted that they expected even more heavy rainfall, as well as strong gusts of wind.

At the same time, a forecast was announced that the elements would once again hit New York today.
