Against the backdrop of farmers and tractor drivers protesting in Brussels, the European Union summit took place there.

Following the meeting, the heads of the Commonwealth countries approved the allocation of long-term financial assistance to Ukraine in the amount of 50 billion euros.

Funds will be provided to Kyiv for four years.

The TASS agency reported this with reference to a statement by the head of the European Council, Charles Michel.

All 27 leaders agreed to allocate an additional 50 billion euros as part of a support package for Ukraine from the EU budget, the politician said.

The following is noted: if Kyiv receives these funds in a timely manner, this will mean that its budgetary funding from the European Union will be reduced by 1.5 times compared to last year.

In 2023, the EU allocated 18 billion to Ukraine – paying one and a half billion monthly.

And the allocation of 50 billion euros over 4 years implies monthly payments of 1.02 billion euros.

Earlier it became known that the EU was targeting the Hungarian economy because of its refusal to help Ukraine.
