The European Commission has made a decision regarding the issue of limiting prices for gas supplied from Russia.
Earlier it was reported that politicians intend to introduce restrictions on the cost of blue fuel. But then a warning came from Russia about a total cessation of energy supplies.
The publication reports the results of the meeting of the EU executive body.
Russian gas price
The authors of the article refer in their materials to a draft document, which states that the restrictions discussed by officials were not adopted.
Instead of introducing a cost cap, the EC is discussing plans to further tax excess profits made by energy companies.
What caused
The publication reports that the implementation of the plan was prevented not by the Kremlin’s threats to turn off the gas, but by the elementary reluctance of the EU countries to agree to such a thing.
Let us recall that this plan was hatched by the heads of the G7 countries who gathered at the summit on June 26-28.
There an agreement was reached to limit prices for Russian oil. However, a warning from Moscow to stop oil exports left the idea to exist only on paper.
