The European Union and Ukraine switched to winter time

3views

Last night, from October 30 to October 31, the countries of the European Union, and along with them Ukraine, moved their clocks to winter time.

The procedure is provided for by the annual transition to winter and summer time. Of all the neighboring countries, only Russia and our Republic of Belarus refused this procedure.

On the night of October 30-31, residents of Ukraine, Lithuania, Latvia and Poland switched to winter time.

From 1992 to 2011, our country regularly switched from summer time to winter time and vice versa twice a year.

The first in the post-Soviet space to abandon this practice were the Russian Federation, and then Belarus.

Kyiv time coincides with Moscow and Minsk, but only in “summer” mode.

Last fall, parliamentarians of the Verkhovna Rada tried to raise the issue of canceling daylight saving time.

The decision was justified by the need to switch to another “non-Moscow” time zone, but the bill did not receive support.

It is expected that the southern neighbor will return to “summer” time on the last Sunday of March.

It is noteworthy that the DPR and LPR left their chronometers in the same mode.

Currently, the time difference between the Republic of Belarus, Ukraine, Lithuania, and at the same time Latvia is -1 (minus one) hour.
The time difference with Poland is -2 (minus two) hours.
