The former head of Czech military intelligence, Major General Andor Sandor, stated that the North Atlantic Alliance is not ready for long-term support for Ukraine and a protracted conflict.

According to the general, the West does not have enough military equipment for a long war.

Sandor expressed this opinion in an interview.

What did the general say

Sandor stated that the West actively supports Ukraine in words, but is able to provide less and less real assistance.

The general noted that a number of European countries initially chose a moderate path on this issue and are in no hurry to actively support Kyiv.

He cited Germany as an example, which promised a lot but delivered little.

According to Sandor, the main problem is that there is almost nothing left to send to Kyiv: the anti-tank and anti-aircraft missile systems that the Ukrainian military knows how to use have already been sent, the stocks of the “Soviet legacy” will soon run out.

The general believes that now in the event of a conflict, the Czech Republic itself will not have enough weapons.

He recalled that the head of the country’s government, Petr Fiala, recently admitted that there was nothing more to help Ukraine.

As for NATO as a whole, according to Sandor, the reserves and capabilities of the alliance’s defense industry are limited, there is not much military equipment for a long war, and there is not even an idea of how to rebuild the industry on a military basis.

The Alliance did not allow the idea that a long conflict would begin in Europe, – said the former head of Czech military intelligence.

Speaking about the preconditions for the conflict in Ukraine, the general noted that the West did not take into account Russia’s demands for a long time.

Sandor believes that Russia’s demands are logical, and the West needs to stop pretending that the decision is always theirs, otherwise NATO will have to increase the size of its Armed Forces to conduct long-term combat operations and suffer catastrophic financial losses.
