Former President of Moldova Igor Dodon was placed under house arrest for 30 days.

Court decision and reaction of the prosecutor’s office

The court partially granted the request of the prosecutor’s office and applied a preventive measure to the former head of state in the form of 30 days of house arrest.

According to prosecutor Petru Yarmolyuk, the prosecution, which insisted on 30 days of detention, intends to appeal the court’s decision.

We insisted on arrest for 30 days in order to deprive him of the opportunity to influence the investigation, – said a representative of the prosecutor’s office.

According to the legislation of Moldova, a court decision can be appealed to the Chisinau Court of Appeal within 3 days.

What is Dodon accused of?

On May 24, the ex-president of Moldova was detained for 72 hours by the anti-corruption prosecutor’s office.
Dodon is charged with high treason, illegal enrichment, passive corruption and financing the party at the expense of a criminal organization.

Searches and other investigative actions were carried out in Dodon’s house, and the day before he was formally charged.
