According to the regulations, the third reading involved the introduction of editorial amendments to the document.

The deputies had no editorial comments; the bill was sent for consideration in the third reading at a plenary session of parliament.

Opponents of the law spent the night on Rustaveli Avenue in order to prevent parliamentarians from starting to consider the document in the morning.

The police pushed back the demonstrators and allowed deputies to enter the parliament building.

On May 1, the Georgian parliament adopted the bill on foreign agents in the second reading.

The country’s President Salome Zurabishvili, the opposition and Western diplomats spoke out against the document.

The US State Department said the bill undermines Georgia’s vibrant civil society.

The ruling Georgian Dream party claims that the document only serves the purpose of ensuring transparency of funding from abroad for non-governmental organizations and the media.

The country’s president said she would veto the document if it was adopted in three readings.

Since April 15, the opposition and civil activists have been holding protests in Tbilisi against the adoption of the law.

Demonstrations repeatedly escalated into clashes with police; water cannons and pepper spray were used to disperse protesters near parliament.

Earlier it was reported that Poland would spend $375 million to strengthen the fence on the border with Belarus.
