Berbock said: “Kyiv is now defending European values.”

She emphasized that the European Union must support Ukraine and not close its doors to it.

The issue with candidacy is much larger; it is about how capable the EU is of acting strategically, and not according to the usual pattern,” the head of the Foreign Ministry noted.

We would like to remind you that the European Commission at its next meeting reviewed Ukraine’s application and recommended that it receive candidate status.

Next week the European Council will make a final decision on Ukraine’s application.

After the status is approved by the EU summit, Ukraine will have to carry out a number of serious reforms in the judicial system and begin the fight against corruption and oligarchs.

Earlier, the head of the EC Ursula von der Leyen emphasized that Ukraine will be able to quickly integrate into the EU system if all conditions are met.
