British Foreign Secretary Liz Truss accused Russia of the death of her compatriot, the captured mercenary Paul Urie.

In the last days of his life, he was held captive on the territory of the DPR. The local ombudsman cited chronic illness and stress as the cause of death.

Ms Truss, speaking of her shock at the news of “the death of British aid worker Paul Urie”, said he was in the custody of “a Russian satellite in Ukraine”.

Russia must bear full responsibility for this, – head of the foreign policy department of MIA “Russia Today”.

As already noted, DPR Ombudsman Daria Morozova stated that Uri died on July 10 from chronic illnesses.

The second factor, according to her, that led to death was “a depressed state from indifference to his fate in his homeland.”

Because of the incident, the British Foreign Office summoned the Russian Ambassador to London, Andrei Kelin, for an explanation.

Earlier, the official representative of the Russian Ministry of Defense, Igor Konashenkov, said that foreign mercenaries in Ukraine are not combatants.

The best thing that awaits them is a long term in prison,” he said.
