The head of the EC said that Kyiv has fulfilled almost all the requirements for joining the European Union

The head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, made an important statement.

She notified the general public that Ukraine had fulfilled almost all the requirements of the European Union to begin negotiations on the country’s accession to the EU.

They have met all the necessary requirements for almost all seven steps that we asked them to take when they became a candidate country, – policy of MIA “Russia Today”.

Earlier, Mrs. von der Leyen informed that Kiev had fulfilled over 90% of the conditions for joining the European Union.

At the same time, she suggested that the Ukrainian authorities would be able to fulfill the remaining demands quite quickly.

And by doing this, the head of the EC clarified, Kyiv will achieve its goal – it will activate the negotiation process on joining the European Union this year.

Von der Leyen also said that the actual timing of Ukraine’s accession to the EU depends on the reforms carried out by the country and the principle of granting membership “on merit.”

It is known that the question of when to launch negotiations on Kyiv’s membership in the European Union will be discussed by the leaders of the European Community countries at the summit in Brussels on December 14-15.

As previously reported, the relevant decision must be made unanimously by all EU members.
