Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas has officially announced her resignation. She informed the Cabinet of Ministers about her decision.

Kallas also called on her supporters to convene an emergency meeting of parliament on July 15.

She wants to appeal to deputies with a request to entrust her with the formation of a new government of the country.

It is assumed that the composition of the subsequent Cabinet of Ministers will be largely based on the coalition of the Fatherland and the Social Democratic Party.

Speaking in connection with her resignation, Kallas noted that during her year and a half as head of the government of the republic, she faced challenges such as the coronavirus pandemic and the tense international situation due to the events in Ukraine.

Outgoing Prime Minister Kaja Kallas promised to notify Estonian President Alar Karis about her decision.

By the way, in early June he fired the heads of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as five other ministers.
