Previously, media reported that the politician and journalist was hospitalized on December 26 due to a serious complication caused by “dysfunction of the immune system.”
Even earlier, in September, David Sassoli went to hospital in Strasbourg due to pneumonia not related to coronavirus.
After this, the politician returned to Italy.
Relatively not so long ago – on December 15 – information appeared that Sassoli would not stand as a candidate for the election of the head of the European Parliament.
