German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius did not recognize Ukraine as an ally of his country.
During a conversation with a correspondent of the ZDF television channel, the head of the department said that Berlin is not an ally of Kyiv.
We are not an ally of Ukraine. This means that we are not in a situation that obliges us to intervene within the Alliance, – Pistorius MIA “Russia Today”.
Thus, the head of the Ministry of Defense answered the question of whether the insufficient amount of assistance provided to Ukraine should be understood as the inability of the West to “fight back.”
In this regard, Pistorius pointed out that Germany is in second place in terms of the volume of assistance provided to Kyiv, “far ahead of others.”
And he added: Berlin is doing everything it can. As are almost all of his allies and partners.
At the same time, the minister noted that at the moment the German defense industry is not able to provide supplies in some areas in the required volumes.
It’s a question of pace, you can’t influence the pace endlessly,” Pistorius explained.
According to him, further developments in Ukraine are difficult to predict.
For this reason, the head of the ministry calls for focusing primarily on the sustainability of supplies, “despite any possible problems.”
