The head of the Hamas Politburo, Ismail Haniyeh, has been eliminated – the Russian Foreign Ministry reacted
Recently it became known about the death of the head of the Politburo of the radical Palestinian movement Hamas, Ismail Haniyeh.
Representatives of the said organization reported this, clarifying that their political leader was eliminated in Iran.
This statement was published in the movement’s telegram channel.
According to the text, Haniyeh was killed during an Israeli raid on the residence of the head of the Politburo in Tehran.
This man was deprived of his life immediately after he took part in the inauguration ceremony of the elected President of Iran, Masoud Pezeshkian.
Some media write that during the shelling of the residence, not only Haniyeh, but also at least one other person was killed.
The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs responded to the event, calling the incident “an absolutely unacceptable political murder.”
In particular, Deputy Head of the Foreign Ministry Mikhail Bogdanov spoke about this to the MIA Rossiya Segodnya news agency.
According to him, the liquidation of Haniya could cause even greater tension in the region.
This is all very bad. This is an absolutely unacceptable political assassination and will lead to further escalation of tensions,” the diplomat said.
He also admits that the death of the politician will have a very negative impact on the negotiations in Qatar regarding the settlement of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
