The head of the UK Ministry of Defense may leave his post

0views

Recently it became known that British Defense Minister Ben Wallace was thinking about the possibility of leaving his post.

By the way, he has been in this position for quite a long time – since July 2019. He is also thinking of leaving politics.

The TASS agency reported this with reference to The Times, which in turn refers to unnamed sources in the country’s government.

They suggest that Wallace’s potential departure is due to reshuffles in the Cabinet of Ministers, which are being prepared by its head, Rishi Sunak.

He planned this with the aim of “presenting a fresher team to the public before the parliamentary elections” scheduled for next year.

The second factor that could influence Wallace’s departure, the newspaper names, is the White House’s refusal to support his candidacy as a contender for the post of NATO Secretary General.

Even Rishi Sunak could not convince Joe Biden to change his mind and support the British minister.

The publication also reports that Wallace’s decision to resign from his post is not related to the current course of the ruling Conservative Party in Britain.

Among his most likely successors, The Times names Deputy Head of the Ministry of Finance John Glen, Deputy Head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Anne-Marie Trevelyan and Deputy Head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Tom Tugendhat.
