The Hill: Russia and China know about gaps in US nuclear shield

0views

Donald Trump’s words about American superweapons, which even Washington itself would not like to use, are still fresh in people’s memories.

Not much time has passed since then, when suddenly the American The Hill published an article in which it reported on the unenviable position of the US nuclear shield.

The authors of the article say that there is a significant gap in the nuclear defense of the United States, and not only in it.

But this circumstance itself is not as scary as the data that the main potential adversaries – Russia and China – know about this vulnerability.

The point is this

The Hill writes that Washington has plenty of free-fall nuclear bombs at its disposal.

But there are several vulnerable points:

  • poor protection during storage in warehouses;
  • a similar situation occurs when delivering ammunition to a target by aircraft;
  • a certain period of time between the order to strike and reaching the target.

In addition, journalists point out that in order to deliver ammunition, US aircraft will have to cross the so-called “disputed” airspace.

Congress is trying to influence the situation, but the agency writes that Russia and China are aware of the shortcomings in the US defense system.

The publication also notes that the creation of a new generation of short- and medium-range cruise missiles is long overdue, but a number of US politicians, including Joe Biden, are doing their best to prevent the development of this type of weapon.
