IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi visited the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant with experts from his organization.
Following the visit, he said that he had the opportunity to talk with the personnel serving the facility and residents of Energodar.
The head of the agency also said that he inspected emergency systems at nuclear power plants, diesel generators and other equipment.
According to Mr. Grossi, the integrity of the nuclear power plant’s reactors was compromised several times.
He also said that during his visit to the nuclear power plant, the sounds of shelling were “clearly audible.”
I was able to inspect the entire facility. I was in the blocks, I was able to visit the emergency systems, diesel generators, different parts. Of course, I had the opportunity to talk with employees, as well as with the people of Energodar, the general director of MIA Rossiya Segodnya.
He added that several members of the mission will remain at the nuclear power plant until September 4 or 5, and later a permanent presence of IAEA representatives will be established there.
