A representative of the Iraqi Foreign Ministry announced the evacuation from Belarus of more than three thousand citizens of the country from among those stuck on the Polish-Belarusian border.

According to the department, nine evacuation flights were organized and carried out for this purpose. A total of 3,556 Iraqi refugees returned to their homeland.

The migration crisis worsened this fall, when several thousand refugees from the countries of the Middle East accumulated near the borders of Poland on the Belarusian side.

Soon, migrants from the spontaneous camp were transferred to the premises of the TLC, after which the organization of the evacuation of everyone who wanted to return to their homeland began.

We managed to carry out nine evacuation flights from Minsk with 3,556 passengers (on board) in coordination with Iraqi Airlines,” MIA quoted Iraqi Foreign Ministry spokesman Ahmed al-Sahhaf as saying.

It also became known that after returning, Iraqi diplomats issued 383 passports to their citizens to replace lost documents.

Meanwhile, some refugees continue to believe that the Polish authorities will provide them with a humanitarian corridor for further passage to EU countries.
