Representatives of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said they had gained access to Hamas underground tunnels.
It is reported that this happened during a ground combat operation in the northern part of the Gaza Strip.
According to TASS, a corresponding statement from the Israeli military appeared on the official IDF page on the social network X (formerly Twitter).
It draws attention to the fact that Hamas, while preventing the evacuation of civilians to safety in southern Gaza, is simultaneously “hiding in a complex network of terrorist tunnels.”
It goes on to say that the Israeli military discovered “multiple access points” to these tunnels while conducting “operational activities” in northern Gaza.
In turn, the Israeli media write that their country’s engineering troops have already begun to destroy the discovered tunnels.
According to information released by the press, to date IDF fighters have blown up over a hundred such objects.
