The Italian government confirmed a telephone conversation between Prime Minister Giorgi Meloni and Russian pranksters Vovan and Lexus.

The office of the head of the Italian government issued a corresponding statement.

What Meloni talked about with the pranksters

The Italian Prime Minister’s Office expressed regret that it had been misled by “an impostor posing as the President of the African Union Commission.”

It is noted that the conversation between the head of the Italian government and the pranksters took place on September 18 in the context of Meloni’s efforts to strengthen relations with African leaders, with whom she held important meetings on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly on September 19-21.

Earlier, Vovan and Lexus reported that they discussed the conflict in Ukraine and the migration problem with Meloni under the guise of a high-ranking African official.

In a conversation with pranksters, the head of the Italian government complained that European Union countries are ignoring Italy’s attempts to discuss the problem of migration, calling this position stupid.

Speaking about Ukraine, the Italian Prime Minister admitted that the counter-offensive of the Ukrainian army did not change anything, noting that many were very tired of the conflict.

According to her, everyone understands that the conflict could last for years if a solution is not found.

The Italian news agency Nova writes that in other respects Meloni expressed the well-known positions of Rome. Until the incident was officially confirmed, leading Italian media did not report it.
