It became known that four suspects in the assassination of the President of Haiti have been eliminated.
Law enforcement officers detained two more criminals. The media reported this with reference to a statement by the country’s police chief, Leon Charles.
According to Haiti’s top police officer, the slain attackers were “mercenaries.”
Four of them were killed, two more were detained and are being interrogated, – said Charles.
Earlier, the Minister of Communications of Haiti, Franz Exantus, announced the detention of possible murderers of the head of state, but did not indicate the number of detained suspects.
Let us remind you that Haitian President Jovenel Moise was killed in his own residence on the night of Tuesday to Wednesday (July 6 to 7).
The country’s government suggested that the crime could have been committed by foreigners, since the attackers spoke Spanish and English (the country’s official languages are Haitian Creole and French).
Yesterday, July 7, martial law was declared in Haiti and the borders were closed. The corresponding decision was made at an emergency meeting of the Council of Ministers.
Acting Prime Minister Claude Joseph noted that security in the country is currently controlled by the military and police.
The politician called for an international investigation into the assassination of the president.
