The mayor of London refused to hand over cars being scrapped to Klitschko

26views

Kiev Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko made a request to his London colleague Sadiq Khan.

I asked him to hand over to him the cars that the London authorities are preparing for disposal (they do not meet the city’s environmental standards).

The mayor of the British capital refused the request, which Klitschko notified via a letter sent to him on December 12.

Khan cited the limited opportunities under the Greater London Administration Act as the reason for the refusal, as TASS cited The Daily Telegraph.

The letter explains: if you send the requested cars to Kyiv, this will contradict the requirements of the law that the initiatives of the City of London benefit citizens “from an economic, social or environmental point of view.”

And a representative of the London authorities said that changing the conditions of the car recycling program for the sake of exporting them to Ukraine is “impossible within the framework of the current law.”

At the same time, this person said that official London expresses solidarity with Ukraine.

However, The Daily Telegraph’s sources, surrounded by Susan Hall, who plans to compete for the post of mayor of London next year, say that she is ready to change the law to help Kyiv.

Earlier it became known about Argentina’s intention to supply two Russian helicopters to Ukraine.
