CTV News reported the cost of search operations for the sunken Titan bathyscaphe.

The Aurora’s involvement reportedly cost Canadian taxpayers nearly $3 million.

RIA Novosti that the tragedy began on June 19, 2023, when a report was received about the disappearance of the device along with its crew.

To organize the search operation, a Canadian P-3 Aurora aircraft was used, which found underwater noises in the search area.

According to a Department of National Defense spokesman, the Aurora aircraft costs about $29,662 an hour to operate.

This aircraft spent approximately 82.5 hours of flight time, resulting in a cost of $2.4 million. Also during the search process, 341 special buoys were used.

Each buoy costs 1.3 thousand dollars – we can say that the search operation cost about 3 million dollars.

A representative of the Canadian Ministry of Defense noted that a ship was also involved in the search operation – the cost of its use was 47 thousand dollars per day.
