The American news portal Axios learned from its sources when Joe Biden might officially announce his withdrawal from the presidential race.
According to the data published by these media, the event is likely to happen this coming weekend, that is, July 20 or 21.
It is noted that the current occupant of the White House may make a corresponding statement under pressure from the leaders of Congress, fellow Democrats and close friends.
They are all convinced that Biden will not be able to change public opinion about his return, secure a majority in Congress and defeat Donald Trump.
The TASS agency, which has become familiar with the publication of the mentioned website, said that a number of prominent political figures are in favor of the head of state withdrawing from the struggle for the presidential post.
Among them are the names of former Speaker of the House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi, Democratic leaders in the Senate and House of Representatives Chuck Schumer and Hakeem Jeffries.
Former US presidents Barack Obama and Bill Clinton, as well as former head of the State Department Hillary Clinton, did not publicly voice their opinion on this matter.
However, Axios notes, their advisers did not hide the fact that they opposed Biden’s further participation in the presidential race.
