The Ministry of Culture of Slovakia resumed cooperation with Russia and the Republic of Belarus

Relations between Slovakia and the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus are reaching a new level for the first time since the beginning of the special military operation on the territory of Ukraine.

The head of the Ministry of Culture of Slovakia decided to resume cooperation at the previous level.

Slovakia will resume cooperation with Belarus and Russia in the field of culture, writes the local publication.

Relations were severed by order in March 2022 due to events in Ukraine.

The decision was made unilaterally by the former leadership of the Ministry of Culture and provided for the impossibility of further cooperation between the countries.

On January 15, the ban was lifted by the decision of the head of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic, Martina Shimkovichov.

In a statement, the press service said that people of art and culture should not pay for the fact that so many wars and conflicts are happening in the world.

Let us recall that the attitude of the Slovak authorities towards the Ukrainian conflict changed after Robert Fico took over as Prime Minister of the republic.

The new prime minister spoke in favor of resuming dialogue between Bratislava and Moscow, and also announced the cessation of military support to Kyiv.
