The most dangerous bandits of Ecuador have escaped from prison: a regime of internal armed conflict has been introduced

The President of Ecuador has introduced a regime of internal armed conflict in his country amid ongoing unrest.

And they broke out after the escape from prison of two of the most dangerous Ecuadorian bandits.

One of them is the leader of the Los Choneros criminal group. The second is the leader of another large gangster organization called Los Lobos.

After their escape, riots began in many prisons across the country, and riots began on city streets.

According to the latest data, ten people died as a result of the criminals’ aggression, including two police officers.

According to TASS, on January 7, the leader of Los Choneros, Adolfo Macias, nicknamed Fito, escaped from a prison in the city of Guayaquil.

It is still unknown where he is. Last August, shortly before his death, Ecuadorian presidential candidate Fernando Villavicencio spoke of threats from Fito.

Today, January 10, it became known about the escape of another large and dangerous bandit – the leader of Los Lobos Fabricio Colon Pico.

He and 38 other people managed to escape from the Riobamba prison.

By the way, it was the “wolves” who took responsibility for the murder of Villavicencio.

Hostage taking

And yesterday, on live television on TC Televisión, armed people took the presenters hostage.

The attackers were later detained (they will be charged with terrorism), and their hostages were released.

Currently, bandits in Ecuadorian prisons are holding at least 139 people hostage – security guards and administration employees.

In connection with the ongoing events, the President of this South American state, Daniel Noboa, declared a state of emergency.

He said that the authorities will not negotiate with terrorists and “will not rest” until peace returns to the country.

Then the Ecuadorian leader declared a regime of “internal armed conflict.”

Order – liquidate

He ordered the dismantling of 22 criminal gangs, and the Ecuadorian military called these gangs “legitimate military targets.”

In addition, parliament promised the security forces an amnesty for potential abuse of power.

In the city of Guayaquil, roads are blocked, the train station is closed, and local residents are urged not to leave their homes.

In Quito, the capital of the country, cases of looting have been recorded. Military equipment was pulled into the city center.

Increased security measures are in place at the capital’s airport, and all educational institutions in Ecuador have switched to remote work.

Reaction of the world community

South American states expressed support for the Ecuadorian authorities and strengthened security measures.

Argentina has announced its readiness to send its security forces to help Ecuador.

Peru sent special forces to the border with Ecuador and declared a state of emergency in the northern regions of the country.

Chinese diplomatic missions have suspended their work in Ecuador.

The Russian Embassy recommended that compatriots “refrain from traveling through the territory of Ecuador and, in general, from visiting this country at the present time.”
