The 12-year-old who carried out a shooting at a Finnish school yesterday was a victim of bullying.

This was reported by the Finnish TV channel Yle.

What we know about the Finnish school shooting

Yesterday morning in Vantaa, a 12-year-old teenager started shooting at a school. One schoolboy was killed and two girls were seriously injured.

The shooter was detained; he had a firearm on him.

According to Yle, the student who carried out the shooting was a victim of bullying.

Thus, the motive for the crime is directly related to bullying, – the TV channel reports.

Police are investigating the incident as murder and attempted murder. There is no criminal case because the suspect has not reached the age of criminal responsibility.

After questioning, the teenager will be handed over to social services. The weapon belongs to a close relative of the student and is licensed.

The school where the shooting occurred is in the capital region. According to Finnish media, there are about 800 students and a staff of 90 people.

Incidents like this are rare in Finland. In 2007, at the Jokela Lyceum, an 18-year-old schoolboy killed 8 people and then took his own life.

In 2008, at a college in Kauhajoki, a 22-year-old student killed 10 people and committed suicide.

Both of them posted videos on Youtube before the attack in which they spoke of hatred of humanity.

After these two cases, the law on gun ownership was tightened in Finland. Owning a weapon is allowed to adults who have been a member of a shooting club for at least a year and have passed a medical examination confirming the absence of mental illness.

Earlier it was reported that a shell from an anti-tank grenade launcher was in Moscow.
