It has become known who will be awarded the Prize in Economics in Memory of Alfred Nobel.

The award winners will be David Card from Canada, as well as Joshua Angrist and Guido Imbens from the United States.

The relevant information was published on the official pages of the Nobel Prize on social networks.

Card was honored for his “empirical contributions to labor economics.”

The rationale for awarding the award to US representatives is as follows: “For methodological contribution to the analysis of cause-and-effect relationships.”

It is noted that the Canadian economist will be paid 50 percent of the bonus. The second part will be shared among the American laureates.

It is worth noting that the Economics Prize is not formally considered a Nobel award. However, it is the Nobel Committee that announces the names of the laureates.

Most often, the Alfred Nobel Memorial Prize was received by the Americans (more than 50 times), the British (6 times) and the Norwegians (3 times).

Let us remind you that the winners of the prize in all other categories (physics, chemistry, medicine, literature, peace prize) were determined in the previous days.
