The New York Times: those preparing a coup in Germany planned the murder of Scholz

23views

The media have revealed new details of the failed coup attempt in Germany.

The conspirators preparing the coup planned not only an attack on the Bundestag, but also the assassination of the head of the German government, Olaf Scholz.

The American publication reports this, citing sources.

What were the conspirators planning?

According to the publication, during the searches over a hundred non-disclosure agreements were found, the signatories of which swore to maintain the secrecy of their plans.

Including an attack on the Bundestag, the arrest of its deputies and the murder of the Chancellor, – the article says.

Let us remind you that last week the German police carried out a large-scale special operation against right-wing extremists who were planning to storm parliament and coup.

Arrests took place in seven federal states of Germany, Austria and Italy, with a total of 25 suspects detained. Another 27 people were searched.

According to the German Prosecutor General’s Office, 14 detainees belong to the military wing of the conspiratorial group, including former military personnel.

The group borrowed the ideological basis of the conspiracy from the right-wing radical network of organizations “Citizens of the Reich” and QAnon.

If the coup was successful, the conspirators planned to form a provisional military government, create a new army and begin negotiations with the former allies following the Second World War.
