The North Crimean Canal is planned to be filled with water again

192views

Crimean parliamentarians came to the conclusion that the North Crimean Canal will be filled with water again in the future.

It is specified that it will enter the territory of the republic from the Dnieper River. Several options for filling the canal with water are being considered.

There will certainly be water in Crimea. It will flow through the North Crimean Canal either through a pump system or by natural runoff. And a complete economic strategy can be formed after the end of the Northern Military District,” MIA quotes the words of the head of the Crimean parliament, Vladimir Konstantinov.

After this issue is resolved, local farmers plan to restore rice cultivation.

The head of Crimea, Sergei Aksenov, also spoke about the prospect of using the channel earlier.

At the end of last year, an official said that water supplies from the Dnieper would resume after the completion of a special military operation.

Let us recall that, according to the decision of the Ukrainian authorities, the supply of water through the canal to Crimea was stopped in 2014.

The decision was made after the results of the referendum reunited Crimea with Russia.

In February 2022, the canal was unblocked by military personnel of the Russian Armed Forces, but after the destruction of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station, water stopped flowing through the canal.

Earlier it became known that a railway connection could be established.
